ONE Championship kondigt uitbreiding aan in China

Op dinsdag heeft de vijf-jaar-oude promotie aangekondigd een overeenkomst te hebben gesloten met een beleggingsmaatschappij in handen van de regering van Singapore, onder leiding van Heliconia Capital Management.

Hoe groot deze financiele injectie is, geven ze niet prijs, maar er wordt wel gespeculeerd over een bedrag met acht nullen.

ONE Championship oprichter en voorzitter Chatri Sityodtong zei het volgende hier over:

“In less than five years, ONE Championship has grown into a global brand with a broadcast reach to over 1 billion homes across 118 countries around the world. We have consistently broken attendance records at many of the largest stadiums across Asia. I expect to see an acceleration in business fundamentals across the board for ONE Championship. “As Asia’s largest sports media property and the second largest MMA organization in the world, ONE Championship will benefit significantly from Heliconia’s ecosystem, network and resources.”

China, met een bevolking van 1,4 miljard, zou één van de grootste mma markten kunnen worden. ONE Championship heeft zes shows in China gehouden. 's werelds grootste MMA promotie, de UFC, is nooit verder gekomen in China dan Macau.
